All booked up for 4 nights late Nov/early Dec

Already bought tickets for Auschwitz, as it's a must-see, and been told the salt mines are worth a look-see.

Over and above those, and the Christmas market - open to suggestions to anything else worth seeing


Spent a fair chunk of the last while working in Gdansk and quite taken by the beauty of the place, the friendliness of the people, oh and the cheapness of the beer

Those are the main ones plus the caslte/old town area but if you are into skiing or mountains then Zakopane is worth a visit, it's about an hour and a half away by car.
Auschwitz was a must for me too, very harrowing place, especially Auschwitz 2

Not been to Auschwitz, but spent a day at Dachau and it was one of the most powerful and moving experiences of my life.

I am well aware of the past and the circumstances (and the fact that Hitler picked up most of his Anti-Semitism from British influences), but really would never want to visit a place of such evil intent.

I'm not saying you should go, Tony. You said you couldn't understand why anyone would want to go. Well, I can, so I'm recommending it to rossybee as a very worthwhile experience.

Excellent cafe culture, sampled plenty local food and drink, and were lucky with the weather (hit double figures at points!)

Being the tight dundonian, I risked a back-street hire car company and got a 5yr old fiesta for £21 for the day which took us to Auschwitz and Birkenau, definitely a must see, very informative, harrowing, upsetting, when you realise the sheer scale. Fantastically done, and kept tasteful in respect for the many who suffered.

Will go back to Krakow, next time minus the teenagers (lol), just to stroll around, enjoy the vibe, the street food, and let Mrs Bee have more gluwein hehe

Agree. I thought it was a Krak-ing place too. Was there for a couple of days with work at end of last summer so only had the evenings to stroll around Wawel Castle and the main square. Wasn't impressed with the food though. Felt it was still all quite cheap quality stuff. Lots of carb related dishes harking back to days of trying to fill you rather than strong on taste, even in the nice restaurant I ate in around the square and at the hotel (Hilton).

From a travel perspective, flight home to Edinburgh was a late one I remember. Cost was £29.99 with Ryanair and got me into airport after midnight. Good old Edinburgh black cab then charged me £105 to take me home!
