Elise S1 - 3D Cad model

Post by BiggestNizzy » Sun Sep 27, 2015 2:00 pm

Work is quiet at the moment and I was thinking about machining a s1 Elise out of aluminium. I recon I can sell it to the powers that be as an example of what we can do but I need a 3D model to work too.

Does anyone have one kicking about, I can open most file formats.

What scale? And how much will you be selling them for?

Scale will be whatever material I have knocking about, retail price will probably be something in the region of £1k

Maybe better to try and a find a cad model of a car that is more valuable. I can't see any s1 owners spending 10% of the value of their car on a model of one made out of a chunk of metal. A 250gto owner on the other hand...

This guy did his first pass on this mk1 on a forum I used to frequent. Great work. Surely there's s way to get his format into something you need? No S1, but a couple of interesting cars to work with. Maybe they'd do an S1?

Can you target £50-100, don't care what it's cut from ;-)

I'm not going to sell them, just looking for something to sit in reception to say "look how awesome we are"

In the same way that these are done

But it has the added bonus of I can make 2 and I can keep one

could get one of my guys to model one for you but tbh, cheaper to buy one.
Are you prototyping?

No not prototyping just making something with some free machine time.

for the time it would take to make a model you are as well to buy one TBH.
Most of the car models we have are pre 2007 crash when we did a hell of a lot of Arch Visuals, I might have an elise but mostly will be middle class suburbia cars almost certainly...
