Good stuff. Pics please!
I think the general consensus is to head south from around Durness, down through Lairg, as the eastern section of the 500 is not so amazing.

Im planning on doing this November time with a mate (2 x Evos)
Like Dom said we have cut out the eastern side and are going straight through Lairg from Loch Ness then going anti clockwise down from Scourie.
Ive cut out some of the single track down from Scourie as it doesnt look worthwhile and more of a ballache time wise for doing the whole lot in 4 days.
Map here -

Any input/help greatly appreciated from those who have done it before?

The number of times that I have done that route and I do not remember anywhere called Rhiconich. I much prefer going up Applecross rather than down, so we normally continue along the coast road, takes a bit longer but a good drive.
An alternative is to carry on to Durness as it is another great empty road, along to Tongue, then down to Lairg. It is mostly single track with very little traffic and wide open views ahead a lot of the time, but you do need a leader who is experienced on single track driving to keep up a good safe pace. As you have planned it is better to stick to the Western side rather than carry onto the Eastern which is less enjoyable.

Phil, definitely worthwhile going up to Durness if you are that far anyway. Lovely beaches and coastal views.
Durness - tongue - Lairg is a nice drive from memory.

I was just going to say the same Dom
Durness> Tounge > Lairg well worth doing.

Well a great experience, almost perfect!
The bit across the north was good and beautiful.
At Castle of Mey the gear linkage parted so came down east coast on back of recovery truck!

That's a same about the car

..but at least it waited until the latter part of the route. Should be a fairly straightforward fix. Time for an uprated gear linkage kit?

If it was the thin metal U bracket on the pedal that snapped, make sure you fit the heavier duty one.
