Bike trainer

Post by jimbo » Tue Sep 15, 2015 3:03 pm

Never used a bike trainer before, but always liked the idea of being able to get some extra mileage in without leaving the house (like when my daughter is sleeping and I can't go anywhere). Do you have to spend a fortune on them? And do they require anything like different tyres etc?

Thanks

I got one of these a few months ago, and can't fault it really. You will need a slick rear tyre to use it though, but apart from that all was great straight out the box. It even came with a new, longer rear axel to mount the bike on the frame with.

Jimbo,

Sandra got a Cyclops Pro-Series trainer. Think this is it here:

She loves and when she has time jumps on the bike whilst I am watching "Wheeler Dealers" or any other program that she does not like

It was reasonably simple to install (don't ask me how as I was not involved in setting it up) and does not need any new tyres.

Would definitely recommend Cyclops as they are one of the more renowned manufactures in this area.

TACX do a great range. I have the Bushido which doesn't even require a mains connection.
Use with software along the lines of:

Thanks guys, they're wildly different in price! That's exactly what it's for though, chuck on one of my programmes for once and get some miles in :thumbsup
