I'm having the odd thought, but then it goes away, but then it comes back again, but then it goes away again when I drive the thing!
Spent over £3k on it this winter so would be a shame to sell it but I have been thinking about an S. I don't know, it's all very complicated!
If I decide either way I can let you know? :S

Hi Ross,
Kinda got my heart set on a Lotus if I'm honest, better fuel economy and all that hahahahaha
Thanks for the offer though, I remember the Donkey chariot being a decent wee car back in the day!

Thanks for keeping an eye out Woody!
Too much of a gamble for me mate as no history, unknown miles and needs TLC... Probably end up off the road as much as yours?

Just jesting bud...
Budget is really about £8500 plus I have our 2006 56 plate R53 mini cooper S to trade so prob about £3k in that too (could sell that but have a guy interested in doing a trade on it this weekend).... that said I'd like to keep some cash back as the wife will need a car too as she doesn't want my Passat so I'll be selling that too to fund her new waggon, joy

Danny works in the same office as me, his is a pretty well looked after Elise. He doesn't post much though.

Saw that, sounds like a decent well looked after example but I'm not that sold on blue for some reason, never really liked the blue ones, seem to be loads about.. I'm kinda hoping for an S2 as I feel with an S1 I'll always feel i've gone backwards from my old one unless it's another 111s or 160. The S1 roof used to annoy me and the lower sill on an S2 will make access a bit easier for a daily driver

sorry, I'm going sort or old or both, that S1 looks great value though.. I know it makes more sense to get a nice S1 like that... arrrgh this is tougher than I though...

Danny's does sound like a good option. Other advantage of a "standard" car is that it would be a blank canvas on which you could happily do your own mods / upgrades, whereas with a 160, you might not want to mess with it too much.
Agree S2 roof is a bit easier, but you soon get into the swing of it and I don't think the sills make that much of a difference - certainly not a deal breaker IMHO.
I'm sure you could soon tweak the image of the Azure Blue,.. the white lower bit (type 49?) style looks good!

Just not that sold on a blue S1 for some reason, seems there are tonnes on the market, all blue lol.. Maybe that's what's putting me off?? I don't really want to go down the blank canvas modifying route again as I don't want to be spending my spare cash on it like I did before, the wife seems to have better uses for my money hahahaha... My head says screw the colour its a better place to put your money but my heart is still in S2 territory as a more civilised daily driver... S1 I think I'd need a 135, 111s or 160 but 160 is out of budget as are the 111s's currently on the market, would prefer Black Red or Silver I think. Been looking for a little while now and the market look pretty flat/dead not much coming onto the market and not much leaving it either

Don't get disheartened - the right car will come along at some point, and if it's at the right price it will sell quickly so you will need to be on the ball to spot it and not miss out. Patience, and the car for you will come along ... (sounds like relationship advice - from me

Is a clean S2 realistically avail in your £8.5k budget?
Strikes me you must either up the budget, or revert to an S1. Just not in blue
