Old age.

Post by pete » Thu Jun 25, 2015 9:39 pm

About 20 years ago I hurt my wrist playing football, the one and only time I played as a grown up.

It was x rayed and put in a cast in case it was my scaphoid, but they thought it was just a bad sprain. It was x-rayed again when the cast came off and the conclusion was it was a sprain.

Finally got round to getting it looked at again properly (I've had physio on it a few times) together with an Xray. It's broken and strangely more sore now I know it's broken than it was before...

Bollocks.

Old age is best left to others as there are way too many ailments to catch and suffer from. I looked up something on NHS Choices and I have caught it and the diseases on the surrounding pages, to be honest it's doubtful if I'll see the night out. :blackeye

I have a broken HAND.

I think the fact that it has been broken for 20 years should gain me more sympathy. Not less.

Is it possible you've broken the hand recently? 20 years seems a long time for it to get neither better nor worse. On the plus side the quality of prosthetics is improving daily. Or you could get a hook?

I also want it recognised I'm clearly hard as nails - able to just manfully ignore broken bones.

Its just your luck which doctor you get. Last time I ended up in hospital first junior doctor looked at x-rays and said "you should get out tonight, take him off the spinal board." Second doctor " There is a anomaly with you x rays, don't move". Consultant " have you done this before? We will put you in a cast. Two months later at spinal injuries specialist " Where did you get that brace? They are a waste of time, don't work and its been fitted wrong. The last six weeks have done more damage."

I still think the NHS is brilliant. :thumbsup
