There are only 6 right hand drive GTEs and only ONE in Scotland and that's in Edinburgh and there is also only ONE Carbon Bodied GTE in the world and that will soon be in Edinburgh .

Okay…

The world is a much bigger place than just england and scotland.

Perhaps I should have phrased it -

Of all the places they COULD have gone in the WORLD, SIX of the TWENTY cars look they they will reside in the northern half of the United Kingdom.

That any better?

The Carbon bodied Evora is a thing of beauty.... but, does there come a point where you are making the Evora more and more track based that you would be better going for an Exige?

Will be quite the track weapon, look forward to seeing it in action. 8)

Is it someone on here who is buying it?

The GTE's aren't really meant for heavy track use. Although its a Motorsport project they won't stand up to lapping continuously for long.

GT cars are what they are selling/describing them as (they are being called GT350's as they leave the factory, the GTE monika isn't on them anywhere, you get a set of GTE stickers on the passenger seat to apply if you wish).

Slightly confused thought as if it's to be a GT car, is the carbon body so essential over the standard body? As I say, it is a thing of beauty, and purely on an aesthetic level I can see the appeal.

It was a one off done to showcase the cars, the carbon body panels were made by Mansory who did all the other GTE body panels for the regular cars.

Without any doubt it is a stunning car, the match of the carbon weave from panel to panel is extremely well done.

The only problem is it is the only one…. There are no spare panels for it anywhere (unlike the other GTE's) so if you have a small ding you will have one of a couple of choices - 1. go back to Mansory and have your pants pulled down for a new panel, or 2. paint the car… Don't see what other choice you would have.

Definitely a collectors piece and fair play to the new owner if he uses it regular!!

Having seen that done in the Pagani factory, it really is a painstaking process to produce a work of art. 8)

It is an improvement but their are 26 GTEs 6 rhd and 20 lhd and the cars have a big GTE sticker on the rear flank either side..

Nope, only twenty cars from the factory and the carbon car is one of them. There are 8 rhd cars, 12 lhd.

I have been keeping tabs on them for the last 3 years (read that as pestering Lotus to sell me one) and could have had the carbon car when they where all first offered for sale last year had I wanted it.

The stickers are on the rear flanks because that is where the owners of the cars have stuck them. I saw Paul at lotus Newcastle stick theirs on the car! Mine are going to go back on under the side mirrors where they were originally. The B+C that Gav now owns doesn't have any at all iirc..

There is a registry on TLF going for the twenty cars on where they are/who owns them.

Is there some confusion over the Evora GTE and the Evora GTE F1 editions? How many of each?

They are the same car except the GTE F1 edition has the full bare carbon bodywork. The other GTE's just have carbon front nose's, roof's, quarter panels, engine covers, etc. They don't have the the front and rear clams and doors as the F1 does and they are painted.

There were approx 30 GTE cars made back in 2011/12 which included 1x F1 edition which the thread is about.

Non of these were sold as they were classed as pre-production prototypes and weren't ready/fit for type approval. They were dished out by Bahar to the likes of Lopez, Swissbeatz, et al to swank around in but they all had to come back. The carbon car was used by lotus as a show car since then, its last outing was at the Lotus Festival at Brands last year

Lotus decided rather than scrapping them all they could make 20 roadworthy cars out of the 30 or so rolling chassis/cars they had sitting around. the remaining cars to be used as a spare parts supply to the others.

The carbon car is one of the 20, the other 19 are just the "regular" GTE''s.

In fact there may actually be 21 cars in total. Back in 11/12 one was given to the king of Malyasia (or so Im told), I really cant see them asking for that one back somehow!!
