Tyres for Exige S2

My Exige came with Yoko AO48 tyres on the front and Toyo R888s at the rear - after my last road trip the rears are starting to look worn.
Any recommendations for an online purchase that will ship to MMC? Cant decide if I'll keep the same tyre combo or make them the same type but need to try and get a good price first.
Cheers guys

Depends what you are using the car for.
Avon ZZR's would be my choice for track type work or Yoko AD07 or 08's for all round road use. Better still a set of each so you have the choice...

Weekend toy at the moment - I like the AD08s but thought I might get a few more miles out of the R888s. Have not had the car on R888s all round as yet...

888 only come with 5mm new Sparky plus a lot softer than the AD08 which come with 8mm new.

Demon Tweeks have AD08s 225/45/17s in stock, delivered within 24hrs.
Camskill are a bit cheaper but same tyres are on backorder with delivery expected ~18 June.
Mike has a pair of part worn AD08s in the classifieds if you need something to tide you over until the fronts are shot.

Thanks mate - did not know that about the 888s. Thought they were harder than the AD08s from what I was told.

888's are pretty soft hence they wear out quickly ish and go off with heat. 48's better not sure on the ZZR's as never had them. AD08's harder but not as grippy. You pays your money and takes your chance.

Cheers mate - the 888s got me to Monaco and back over the last couple of years with no drama but now they are looking tired. I'm thinking AD08s are the way to go from what everyone has said so far.
In other Lotus news there is now a Lotus dealer in Monaco of all places

Don't get me wrong, I like 888's. As a road tyre they are great as they are softer so work in cold and damp. Track tyre, they go off with heat. 48's are the best track tyre I've tried but as I've said I haven't tried ZZR's.

I've 48s on mine and they are rubbish when cold. Really need to be pushing hard on the road to get heat in them to get them working. Very sketchy cold. But they are very good when pushing hard but that's way above what one might consider acceptable on the road. Avons or r888s for me next

Plenty to think about – the last time I had 48s on my previous Exige it was my daily and they lasted a year (around 7k miles) and even got me to work in the snow.
Different this time as the Exige is my weekend car – thinking R888s might be an option after all if they are a better road tyre.

I cannot imagine you actually need 48/888 if the car is a road car.
I would go with AD08s all round for a road car.
That said I did a load of road miles on 888's to/from various frolics over the years, including some stuff in the mountains and they are great for that.
Cheers,
Robin

Yes, I should've said I really like AD08's too and have a new set for frolics. I've not really noticed any appreciable difference between them and 888's on track either.
5 track days and all the travelling in between and there's still 3 to 4mm left.

AD08s have probably 90-95% of the outright performance for the vast majority or drivers, but are a much less compromised tyre for road use..
The Federal 595 RS-R is also an excellent tyre, comparatively very cheap but almost the same performance as the 'premium' brand tyres. Plenty experience with them on the Elise / VX chassis too..
