Potentially a good line up but Guy Martins comment ' it's funny what you find out reading the paper sometimes' would suggest it's still speculation

All 3 of those have been rumoured since the Clarkson incident.
If the 3 was really overheard in a conversation between Wilman and Jay Kay, they were maybe just discussing the options that were being rumoured..
For me, Guy Martin would fit in well on a TG style show and has the enthusiasm, skills and (bike?) knowledge to back it up.
Kidd is a bit annoying on the Classic Car show, but is a petrol head and is enthusiastic about the older stuff, and has raced.
Glenister is the weak link. He is somehow associated with cars because he was in 2 cop shows emulating the Professionals etc. where cars played a big roll. For The Love of Cars has shown he doesn't really know much, and doesn't seem to be that interested either. Not convinced.
It's a shame that this will potentially bring an end to the 2 other current shows, both of which I enjoy watching so we loose car based shows instead of gaining
Also, Jay Kay would be decent
I guess next we'll have Idris Elba, Rimmer from Red Dwarf, and that large guy with the beard from Fifth Gear rumoured in the next installment of BBC search for people who once presented a car show for new Top Gear..

Lord Lucan, Shergar and Rowan Atkinson's Gardener...
They're batsh*t if they think keeping exactly same format and slotting in new presenters is the way to go. And I don't think they will.

I think they should just let it go tbh.
They've made their money out of it, and the show was getting pretty long in the tooth anyway.
Having seen both the Australian and American versions, both of which I find pretty cringe worthy to watch, I can only suspect that a new line up of presenters would be a bit cheesy and lacking in originality.

Rachel Riley would be ideal.
Maybe they should go down the road of 9/10 cats do countdown & have A guest presenter (occasionally Clarkson?) with Ian Hyslop & Paul Merton... Have I got Top Gear for you?

Much as I love the delectable Ms Riley, her brief stint on the Gadget Show illustrated that she can't actually present for toffee. Mores the pity...

She was miles better at presenting than Polyanna though. The gadget format sort of lost its way...too much Bradbury input maybe?
Agre leaving well alone is best but you know they wont. Moving TopGear to something like the American format is probably their easiest short term option? It'll still require someone to host....good luck to whom ever that is..

…just for balance (cos I like the Rachel Riley idea

), Guy Martin cannot
present for toffee either. I don't think I've seen him presenting any programme he's been involved in
Dunno why so many folk believe Guy would be good on a Top Gear re-birth. It's a quite different role to being the on-screen 'experiencer' in a documentary, which is all I've seen of him.
Think I'm with those who hope 'New New Top Gear' isn't a facsimile of the recent Clarkson/May/Hammond recipe.

I actually agree,
As much as im a big fan of Guy Martin, I don't think TG would be his ticket.
I also agree with Kenny, Just let it go, think of something new for us petrolheads.

Also agree with the Guy Martin comments.
His infectious, likeable nature is far better suited to the real-life docos we've seen him in rather than scripted telly.

Totally agree - think it might actually be painful to watch him try to present a scripted piece.
Totally love what he does, though. If the format is radically different and they can weave his style of reaction-style pieces to camera into it - perhaps in the feature segments - then it might work
It might actually be something they are looking down the route of. Dump the studio ego-boost session which is the trademark of the three old presenters and make it a show of filmed features linked together - bit more of the Fifth Gear format (ie, no studio stuff) but with the Top Gear production values
Could work.

I read Guy Martin's book recently, an interesting character, who was quite reluctant to do TV presenting. He has turned down programs along the lines of wheeler dealers as he thought they'd just not be much fun. The impression I got was he's still just as happy working on trucks , fitting in his bike races and doing TV stuff if it's of interest.
I'll miss the entertainment of the old show, but a revised version would be like doing a sequel film with different actors, some work some don't, I suspect this wouldn't.

Presenting must be much harder than it looks as very few are any good at it.
I don't think Rimmer from Red Dwarf would work but I like the idea of Kryton. Or Steve Coogan. Jodie Kidd isn't much cop but she's no worse than Quentin and interesting because she can obviously drive a bit.
Failing that I'd do it.
