Scottish Elises

Going to not only our favourite Indian in Dubai, but probably our favourite restaurant here. Wish I could bring this back to Aberdeen. Costliest dish £3.50, Nan 18p.

Makes up for the Friday Brunch we are going to at £100 per head, but that does include unlimited drinks including Moet, and about 30 different food stations serving everything from lobster to Wagu beef, foie gras, king crab probably my favourite, Robins favourite the Carvery Station, then all the National foods, Indian, Chinese, Lebanese, Japanese, etc. Sounds over the top, but when a bottle of wine costs £50 it is a no brainer, especially as I will stick a placki bag in my bum bag for take aways.

Dundee peh beans n chips would go down a storm.

I've been to Ravis quite a few times; outrageous value and the food is great too.

I've only ever been with my mates that live there; when you park up in the area teams of guys approach you and want to service / fix your car - there are always folk changing brake pads in the street.

Thanks to Clare's two seater 370Z Roadster, just what you need in Dubai, we use taxis now, but we used to park in the square and it was just as you say, complete service for a few quid.

I do not remember Ravi's being A/C but it is now, so even better when you are eating curry. Clare and Jamie order more than we will eat so that they can take curries home with them, even so it came to £30 for the five of us and the taxi at £3. However it is in the Indian workers area, so the rest of the City is a whole new ball game.

My mate got a new mirror for his land cruiser whilst we were eating. We were winding him up that he had just spent £30 for someone to go and take one off another car parked in the carpark Also complete cobbler services (new stitching, resoled, laces and polish) for £2. Crazy when like you mentioned go a couple miles south and its a different level of costs for stuff.
