Tracking the history of my car, previous owner from aberdeen

Post by Muzzaa72 » Sat Apr 11, 2015 10:45 pm

Evening!

I've been told by a few people now that my S1 elise is faster than normal and I am looking to upgrade certain parts but I don't have a great history file to go on. This is a bit of a punt but I was wondering if anyone remembers my car from the past.... It is racing green and has a had a couple of registrations K5RRC and S884APG and I bought it with the S884APG reg from a lotus dealer in Bolton. He said he had just brought it down from Aberdeen so I had to liberate the car and bring it back north of the border! I have had it a couple of years now and all running well but I am puzzled as to whether to believe it is not just a standard car.

I have a dyno reading that says the car is getting 138bhp which is not standard and the dealer said it is a B&C 140 but there is no paperwork to support that. I have a receipt for a head skim but no porting etc..... The previous owner is Mr D Dempsie from Westhill, Aberdeen and it was serviced at Jim King Autotune in Inverurie Does anyone know him?? I have seen some pics of the car at SE events too...

Another pevious owner is Donna Connell from Falkirk?

Any advice really appreciated,

Cheers,
Murray

Have you looked up what the B&C upgrade consisted of so you can check? Or is it all internals?

I had a look around and the B&C 140 basically has an induction and exhaust upgrade with some tweaks to the ECU. I dont have any history/receipt of this being done, only the word of the dealer (who only deals in lotus/classic cars) and a dyno sheet but I don't trust the dyno sheet fully. The ecu doesn't look standard and it has no clear markings.

A few people who have heard the car do say that it sounds very different and I can stick behind sport 135 ok. I'm not too bothered either way, just interested as I am a novice when it comes to deep engine work so would like to know where I am starting from.

Cheers,
M

A few people are saying it is difficult to spot a B&C conversion unless looking in the ECU. There's a fair few receipts from the car's early life at B&C too so there is a tenuous link....just

The B&C 140 and 160 have the standard ECU with a daughter board add on inside. The only other change is the exhaust on the 140 which I had, and the cams on the 160 which Craig Wallace has. Real HP was around 130 and 145.

Donna C with a Green S1;

http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =4&t=18829 - page 6 is where it gets interesting!

If that is your car (seems like it) then it appears the owner before Donna was Matelotman on here.

Cheers Steve! Ye I read along the post and it does seem to line up quite well. The seats are different now but Donna (according to the paperwork) definitely owned the car in 2009. After Donna it seems to go back to Aberdeen, presumably to David Dempsie. Then south to the dealer where I picked it up. It is nice to see a bit of Bell&Colvill mentioned too... maybe I can start believing what I was told.

Cheers for the help!

You've had N1 on other cars it shouldn't have been on either.
