I met Boyner in his new 620R the other week having just been for its run in service.

He'd planned to have it at the last SIDC day but pulled out with the amount of rain there was. It'll be bonkers in the dry, never mind the wet.

The quality and total randomness of the factors of 5th Gears tests is the biggest worry in this :thumbsup

1. Practicality test,.. how many cup holders? ... which has the biggest glove box?
2. Which has the best motorway cruising MPG?
3. Which is best for towing a caravan?
4. Which is easiest to park at the supermarket?
5. Oh and, these cars are about speed, so lets see which is the quickest to wash and polish.... :blackeye

Yeah, they should do something representative like ...
  • Aston Martin Vs French TGV
  • Ferrari Vs Passenger Jet
  • Mercedes SLR Vs Cruise Ferry
  • Veyron Vs Cessna 182
  • Toyota Hilux Vs Dog Sled
  • Nissan GT-R Vs Japanese Public Transit System
  • Ferrari Daytona Vs Powerboat
  • Jaguar XK120 Vs Locomotive
  • Shelby Mustang Vs French TGV
  • Toyota Auris Vs Sail Boat
I liked the one last week with Tiff Needell driving his old 70s FF against the Elise at Hethel.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it was an interesting comparison of low unsprung mass Vs modern technology or anything like that.

It was just a nice piece with some relevance to cars and motorsport which I can relate to.

I've been enjoying this new season of fifth gear.
I like Tiff's presentation. Was interesting to see Harris on there last week as some have been saying he'd be a good replacement for Clarkson on TG. I didn't think he came across that well tbh so I doubt he'd be on the BBC shopping list.
What's really missing is the TG system with The Stig and their own track so that you can get a fairly good idea of drivability on a fairly level playing field.
Good to be the best car show on UK TV at the moment.

Christ, they put Vicki Butler I Raced a Kart Once in them... Why not Tiff? He's the only actual talent on that show...

Useless test.

Complete waste of time having VBH testing the atom and cateringvan. Under drove both of them, should have had Tiff at the wheel.
