Eclipse or whatever it was
Don't know what you all thought or saw but a bit of an anti-climax here in Perthshire....possibly hyped too much and I was expecting more.

Offshore North Sea, but roughly in line with Aberdeen, so share the anticlimax. Just got slightly darker, and much colder.
Big fat meh.

Never went as dark as I thought it would. BBC flogging it for all its worth.

Re: Eclipse or whatever it was
what did you expect?
Nice and clear here in Dundee, I had a basic pin hole setup clearly projecting a crescent shape, we had croissants - by coincidence as my boss often brings in a pack on Fridays
Also managed to get an angle on double glazing, using a blind to block out the sun to see it.
Shadows looked odd as you'd expect them to be longer for the brightness.
1 guy used a black white board marker to colour in his glasses and said it was pretty efficient.
Apparently there were people outside using X-Rays too.
The NHS porters are striking at the front door of Ninewells today
Most impressive thing for me was how not actually that dark it was with 95% of the sun hidden..
Off to listen to Bonnie Tyler on repeat*

Re: Eclipse or whatever it was
Oh yea the eclipse thing, when's it on?

Re: Eclipse or whatever it was
Out walking when it occurred. Meagre pinhole views but spooky to experience it. Bit like really big thunder cloud passing. But without rain or noise

Re: Eclipse or whatever it was
Our building in Dundee emptied , garden was full of people. Using a CD was the best method to see a well defined shadow forming over a bright spot. I echo many , expected it to be far darker in general ... had even considered taking the kids out of school so I could film their reaction ... which would have been one of bordem.

Re: Eclipse or whatever it was
Got a pretty decent view of it in Edinburgh.
Mostly clear skies although it was easier to see when some cloud passed in front.
Got a few pics on the camera but can't upload them at work.

Looked pretty cool in Aberdeen through a welding mask. Didn't get as dark as I thought it would.

Re: Eclipse or whatever it was
I just heard it described on the BBC news as "the greatest show on earth". I think I'm going to ask for my money back in that case.
It was kind of cool but didn't really get dark at all in Aberdeen. The situation in the Faroes was very different where it went black.
