My Mum is away at the moment, visiting a terminally ill relative, so Dad's in the house on his own and she'd asked me to give him a ring... About 5 minutes into the call his mobile rang, which it never does, so I presumed it was someone who couldn't get through on the landline. He picked up while I waited and I could make out some of his side of the conversation.

"well no, not really."
"I'm just back from the doctors actually."
"Well it's not good news, they don't want to put a time on it but"
indistinct and muffled
Rejoins me on landline.
"Sorry about that, yeah so your mum flew from Liverpool but it was such a palavah."
"Errm is everything OK?"
"Yeah, I just dropped her at the airport but they only have a few flights every day so it's not like she has to negotiate Manchester or anything."
"No what was that about the doctors?"
(He's had some tests recently and whilst i knew he got the results before Christmas there's always something wrong with him at his age so it's entirely possible he's forgotten something.)
"When?"
"Just then. On your mobile? Who was that?"
"I dunno."
"Well what did they want?"
"I don't know I didn't ask."
"Well what did they say?"
"Oh they just said 'Good Evening Dr S_ how are you this evening'. And I told them I wasn't very well, and I'd just had some rather worrying test results from the doctors and then they hung up."
He just likes f.ucking with them.

Re: Elderly Lancastrian (2)
Good for him, it was probably Microsoft Support who have discovered a virus on his computer.
Had another one the other day, so as as I was not busy I led them on, played computer illiterate, and took them all the way through to my CC details for them to clean it. I then mentioned that I had heard that you do not get virus's on Macs, followed by silence then click.
