Quick one....
Are there any restrictions on putting a private plate on a cat d vehicle?
And any greater chances of losing entitlement of said private number?
Sounds really silly as I am writing this but would appreciate prior experience/knowledge on such matters.
TIA

Don't see why there would be any issue, in my knowledge the Cat D is simply a registration with insurer es and HPI to state the car has previously been an insurance write off for non structural damage and the new plate would then link to the VIN so that it couldn't be used as a away to hide the cars write off status if you decided to sell it with the plate.
I could be wrong, but that seems logical.

VX Jon had his VX written off when his private plate was on it. A couple of years later when arming the 7 that replaced it, it turned out the cat D was showing against the plate (not the 7 itself) which seemed to explain why the interest wasn't turning into viewers.

Have heard of that happening several times - both the car and private plates associated with them end up with markers against them

Obviously some issue there with the plate being associated with the veehickle at the time of write-off, different to what I'm asking about.
Probably.

You cannot put a private plate on that.

They may ask you to present the donor vehicle for inspection if it has been classed a write off before.
Obviously when the number gets taken off it will get assigned its original number or a brand new year relatedd one if you have taken the original. Its at this point they may ask to inspect to make sure you are not trying to ring the donor car.
Had to take a car i bought a reg number off to Peterborough DVLA for an inspecttion years ago which had been previuosly written off.
