Tut

Post by Mellow Yellow » Sun Dec 14, 2014 2:17 am

Was out tonight for my Christmas night out with some mates, got chatting to a lad (friend of a friend) who was a previous Elise s1 owner and he said do you know a guy called Tut. I said sort of, through the forum. His name is Ewan Begbie. Turns out he was at a few meets, one of which was at your gaff Tut in Aberdeen about 10 years ago. Small world!

Thought I'd share this before I fall over into my drunken stupor and it's gone forever!

He was/is a member on here still I think, though he probably never signs in. Back in the day he came across as a little immature, perhaps too immature for driving an Elise. No doubt he has got that all out of his system now, so perhaps he'll be back in the near future!

Cheers,
Robin

Euan Begbie, did the whole of Tut Towers 2002 in an S1 H3 EDB.

He was also with Mike Brown when he had his accident on a run.

"Hot off the press folks! something terrible happened on the way home...Mike
Brown had an off dont know how bad but he says his car is a real mess! Me an
Mike were pushing on pretty hard at Lixtoll when he dissapeared from behind
me. I stopped and waited but he never rounded the next corner. I carried on
after a 10min wait thinking nothing of it. Then further down the road I came
across an ambulance an Police van with lights going. Never actually thought
for a second that Mike crashed and now feel really bad about not going back!
Sorry Mike.
Terrible end to a otherwise great run!
Euan"

He seems quite sensible now but thats what 12 years of life experience does you! Must say if I was going at the twisties with someone behind me and they vanished I would probably turn round but guess you can't say unless you were there or knew the exact circumstances.

Was the lad ok? Sounded like a serious off.

Yes, Mike was OK.

Happened many times over the years, a few times behind or in front of me, and yes we turn around and go back and check, but that is with a lot of experience. Accidents are going to happen at any time, so also on our quick road runs, but we learn from them and try not to let them happen again.
