Tree 1 Elise 0

Post by AJT » Sun Dec 07, 2014 11:51 pm

Feeling sad and pissed off!!!!! Managed to spin my car on Friday evening coming of the roundabout at Falkirk Fire Station & hit a tree, smashed the front drivers side corner :( .
I am OK. Hope the insurance agrees to get it repaired.

Ouch - sad to see but at least you're ok. Cars can be repaired (or replaced) - looks like it's not too bad but always hard to tell until its checked out.

:( Bummer. Was that at the newish, small roundabout by the stadium? You've had the car a good few years now Alan; hope it's repairable.

anytime you hit a tree and come out of it alive you've won!

Bloody slidy out there on the roads - easy done.

Sorry to hear that, glad you are alright though.
After my recent experience, I can understand your annoyance, the price of parts soon add up to a write off for not much damage especially combined with lack of parts availability.
In my repair estimate, front clam listed at £4400 +vat, front crash structure @ £2200 + vat  although there are new much cheaper clam alternatives available. With genuine parts my repair bill was £1000's higher than value of car.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.
DJ yes it was the small roundabout beside the fire station, now just over 8 years since I bought the car.
Campbell while I would love to blame Diesel I think it was just being too relaxed and not aware how slippy it was
IanD yeah was really worried that the cost to repair would exceed the value of a 12 year old car but looking on Pistonheads and Autotrader the values are holding up really well, cheapest I could find was £13,500. :D
Anyway the good news is the assesor has been out today and agreed the car can go to Willowbrae for repair :D and they are OK to use a clam from Lotus Hard Tops, although I have to sign a release as it has not been crash tested. <BG>
