The Art of Manliness - Building a Wid Fire

Post by H8OAG » Fri Dec 05, 2014 8:46 am

One for all my Wid Tink friends

Pay close attention to building an upside down fire......this works well for the larger open grates.

The overall "Art of Manliness "website is bit of fun as well......

Very intrigued by this,so thought I'd give it a try on our woodburner.Wasn't sure it'd work as it's effectively sealed with the airflow controlled by a damper in the base although it's always easy to light in the "conventional manner.
Anyway long story short......feckin' awesome!!.....took about the same time to put all the firewood, kindling, etc in there but after that it was light and walk away, none of the waiting for kindling to get fully going, then add more firewood and keeping an eye on it.
Good call Mr Boag, always up for a new technique in our house
