Inverlochy Castle (just past Fort William) is very nice, but is a bit ££££s ; http://inverlochycastlehotel.com/

There are some decent places on here, and some at reasonable prices, or special offers ; http://www.luxuryscotland.co.uk/ :thumbsup

Graeme,

Not been to any of the ones in Scotland but the ones I have been down in Englandshire, France and Italy have all been excellent:

The Pierhouse Hotel - Port Appin

Or Airds Hotel just 500 metres along the road

Both have Fab Food

Airds is a tad more special and the owner is a classic car enthusiast who would no doubt be amenable to Lotus Management getting special rates

Eat in both places if your stay is two nights

Easy access and fun roads
Take the passenger ferry to Lismore and walk/rent a bicycle

Another vote for the Pierhouse at Appin. Great seafood and a beautiful location :thumbsup

Thanks chaps, both the Appin places full but I've been to Pier House for food before, was very good....

Booked a nice wee Argyll bolthole with the full requisite of log fires and lobsters, will be great

Make sure you have your winters on just in case, you know how cold it can get for you sunworshipers down south. :thumbsup

Hi Graeme,

I was going to recommend Airds as well as stayed a few times & had lunches at The Pierhouse. If really splashing the cash and in that area the Isle of Eriska is exceptional & lovely location. If ever back looking Monachyle Mhor as you have suggested I've stayed twice and also very good and a bit more casual than Airds. Very good though. I was there for lunch 2 weekends ago. It feels really out in the sticks as about 5 miles of twisty single track to get to it yet actually very close to civilisation.

Also up on the W. coast there is supposed to be a lovely Hotel in Strontian on the Ardnamurchan peninsular. Not one of the old typical run down Scottish affairs that do exist. Not been yet and can't remember the name as offshore. Added excitement of crossing on the Corran Ferry and lovely scenery.

Cheers,
Al.

Some good ones in there - I've been all round ardnamurchan a few times but not stayed there. We went for the "near civilisation but feels like it isn't angle" - Knockderry House on the far side of the Roseneath peninsula looking onto Loch Long - very remote, not as mountainous as the usual but we'll drive to them - a lovely place and only an hour from Glasgow.....

Just wanted a change from something off the A82, and something less than 2 hours from central belt as I'll be driving to Norfolk directly after! :cheers

I can highly recommend Monachyle Mhor. Really relaxed atmosphere, great staff, awesome food. It's a special place!
