My Amex has been compromised

Got an email from Amex last night to say that someone has managed to get the details of my Amex card :(

Luckily its for reasonably small amounts online (TM Lewin of all places) and has been caught very quickly.

Surprisingly the last time that I used my card was in a Shell station in Livingston. Not saying it was them but reading online they are lots of reports of skimming in Livingston petrol stations.

Think I am going to be buying my petrol in Edinburgh from now on!!!

Just a warning for people to be vigilant - always shield my pin but suppose it means diddly squat if they have a skimming device.

That's bad news.
I'm off to check my Amex statement right now!

By Amex got done at the notorious petrol station in Tollcross years back. Had a device inline with the card reader so you could not defend against it.
Amex chap on the phone was very helpful and advised that I cancel my ddebit before the cash came out and I had to claim it back.

Mine was skimmed at a London Serviced Apartment 5 yrs ago. Amex were on it, and were brilliant.

Must admit that I have been impressed how fast Amex picked it up. OK they may charge the retailers more than other cards but the customer service is fantastic.

Obviously they must profile my spending and realise that any spend at TM Levin is very unlikely!!!

Ian just called to say that RBS had phoned him to say that they had put a block on his bank Card for unusual activity.

He flew back from Amsterdam yesterday to Aberdeen and only used his card once at the Airport for one of these massage sessions that it seems that you can now get, but they are all over the place and legit. No happy endings.

His card was used today whilst he was at work, probably in Holland, with an Escort Agency and something else for a total of £140. Good news is that the Bank stopped the payments before they went through, and phoned him straight away to issue a new card.

Bad news for the prossy is that she was not paid (would that be classed as rape), good news for the perpetrator/penetrator, was that he got a free shag.

And he is sticking to that story.
