Another new car (NLC but Porsche content)

Post by IanD » Sun Nov 16, 2014 10:11 pm

Picked up my Elise replacement Friday night.
Bought a 1994 Porsche 968 Club Sport, more a case of an opportunity buying from someone I knew who has owned it for 12 years rather than seeking out a 968 or specifically a Club Sport. Certainly not mint having done 150k especially bodywork wise but it has been maintained by a local Porsche specialist with all receipts for past 12 years, cost a lot less to buy than my 2004 Elise 111s so thought why not although I do know the running costs will be higher.

Not had a chance to drive it much over the weekend, feels weird with really long bonnet (more so with the headlights up) and steering/pedals feel is pretty solid and heavy, especially compared to lightness of the Elise, suspension feels stiff about town but doesn't seem too harsh on local A-roads, it does feel like an older car generally though (which isn't surprising as it is 20years old)

Even with bucket seats, interior feels pretty normal although I'm starting to notice some of the Club Sport 'features' - no interior light, boot release is a toggle behind the passenger seat, no rear wiper and ironically because of the bucket seats and really low (non adjustable) steering wheel it isn't much easier to get into than the Elise.

Some quick phone snaps I took

Looks lovely in white, Porsche buckets are cracking.

Don't worry about the mileage as if maintained correctly these things are bullet proof.

Lovely, indeed - I had a hankering for one back in 2002, but Porsche Aberdeen were particularly unhelpful and I bought an S2 Elise instead

I seem to remember a white 968 CS that used to do trackdays at KH around the late 90's / early 2000's - Was it this same one?
