Audi S3

Post by campbell » Sat Nov 15, 2014 9:09 pm

Always liked these.

Anyone had one?

Just read the EVO buying guide for it. Got me thinking.

Probably sportback version.

Views sought, including real-world mpg pls.

Do like these, considering changing my hot hatch for one. Wouldn't mind a shot of one

Nice in blue

3.5 for that model

Maybe the newer ones are better

Review reads well, generally. I'm not allowed a GTI, so this seems to make sense as a more advanced alternative...

Interesting timing as I have been thinking about changing the BMW!

Started looking at MK6 Golf GTI's then realised I would need to buy an Edition 30 as it comes with a de-tuned S3 engine which then lead me onto the S3!

Been distracted on route with MK7 GTD's and 125d's as it will be Lynda's daily so MPG still important!

Edit to add; Had the old shape S3, 1.8 turbo version a few years back and it was a great car, really nice place to sit. Pretty quick once chipped, and nothing could touch it on A/B roads as it was so sure footed which was also it down side especially on track as it would never want to play

Budget implies 2009. But not well-read enough on them to be sure. Think the Sportback is 2008 on and that appeals a bit more. Strangely! Need to check if boot bigger etc.

Campbell. Still insane leasing deals on the Golf R. Even personal leasing is £220-ish inc vat. No brainer. Highly rated car (in all the mags) and insane value.

With you all the way, Andy. Sadly the missus is adamant. No more Golf.

We actually want an A5 but they're a bridge too far right now.

I'll try the Jedi Mind Tricks again just in case.

Yup. S3 doesn't get anything like as good reviews and this is a steal.

Think all the good deals are now done on the Golf R Andy, looks like you had to get your order in before the end of October.

Very reliable - no problems since 2007. Only thing is that the tires need to checked a lot and the alloys are easily damaged on the tdi s-line dsg...

Replacement for the Skoda or Mini Campbell?

Isn't the S3 just a Golf GTI which doesn't look as good, doesn't handle as well and costs more? :leave
VX220 2.2 - Gone
BMW 335d Touring F31- Fastest car on the road
MINI Cooper 1.5- More fun than the BMW
