Shower

Post by pete » Sun Nov 02, 2014 11:29 am

Well a fun drive back from Cadwell, as soon as I crossed the border the heavens opened, at one point I had to just stop, so hard was the rain...

Still, could have been worse I suppose, at least I have a roof.

Wasn't that bad, I managed to maintain the same speed [WINKING FACE]

Not so sure I would of enjoyed it so much on 888's however!!

Yeah wasn't so much the tyres as my candle powered headlights.
I had to stop every 23 miles to change the wick, and the rain puts the flame out.

I saw 2 people flash at you so that's at least 2 I saw. One was a truck. :P

My lights on the A66 were absolutely shocking and so bad on the M74 that I couldn't see how deep the standing water was. That'll be a pretty necessary upgrade then.

I think they were flashing you as you were going so slow [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE]

HID dips are brilliant and do not even need the main beam.

I fitted a set to the VX, just a shame I did not set up the height adjustment as they were pointing to the ground

I could see your beams on the road in front of you in daylight. So they are bright enough ;)

First time driving the Elise in those conditions so I definitely wasn't going to give it even 7 tenths never mind 10/10.

With age comes self preservation and that of my passenger. :thumbsup

Shower

Post by Ferg » Sun Nov 02, 2014 8:56 pm

For some reason my S1 lights are pretty good. My full beam would melt the paint off the car in front do I don't use it unless it's clear. I chickened out on not having the roof due to the cold by the time I hit Durham.

Glad you all made it back ok. :-)

Edit: just realised I said this in another post too last night...must have been knackered. :-)

I was loving the drive up home until the heavens opened on the m74.Even doing 40 on the inside lane I was aquaplaning but on well worn ZZRs, I don't know what I was expecting.
Glad everyone made it home safely given the conditions.
Re headlights, neither I nor anyone else on the road seemed to notice the difference between full or dipped. Actually, turning off my instrument lights made most difference to seeing the road ahead.
