New member - lights question!

Post by xtreme » Thu Sep 15, 2005 9:02 pm

Hi

Just joined after buying a new S2 exige performance in storm titanium. Got the website address after a session at KH on Tuesday, which definately got me the trackday bug....

Nice to see a scottish website for elises / exige.

Car fantastic :D

Only slight complaint is the poor visibility driving in the dark, lights are v poor? Anyone recommend a way to improve the lights ? Higher output / better quality bulbs?

Thanks

:welcome

Probably saw you there on Tuesday, I was the one in the blue S2 Elise with no front plate, occaisonally spinning and off-roading at the hairpin :D

Don't drive mine in the dark much and when I do, I don't really have a problem with the lights. You can get HID lights but they're pretty expensive, about £220 for dipped beam only on elise-shop.com

Hope to see you at KH again soon.

Si.

Welcome along :)

Lights are not an Elise strong point... You can spend bucks on HID kits, which do help - but part of the probelm is to do with the Elise being so low, that if you're 'making progress' on roads with a bit of elevation change, you can very often be plunging into darkness as the road elevation blocks the beams...

You'll get used to them ;)

whisper........... use the force luke...........

lights are fine so long as you just want others to see you coming - totally useless for seeing what's in front of you! but is that not half the fun and excitment?

Simon - Saw your car, was going well, didnt see the spins though  was very wet and had a few slippery moments myself but as the car was less than 2 weeks old didnt push it too hard - was the first time I had driven it in the wet and had only just been serviced so still experiencing the thrill of the 2nd cam for the "first" time :D

Looks like I will have to use the force  and hope for the best.... dont know if I can justify £220 for new bulbs which might not make that mush of a difference.... take on board the comments about the car being so low...

Or I could just drive slower

Definately want to go to more track days, where is the best place to watch out for the organised days? Or is there a mailing list etc I need to join?

Thanks

The best place is probably here or on the SE Yahoo group. Knockhill do Hot Marques nights on the 1st Monday of every month, there's the SIDC days (one on the 25th if you want to come along for a look), Dreadnought TVR garage ones and a few others. Usually someone will post on the Yahoo group and it'll get cross posted to here.
