I think they were looking for a reason to stop them filming rather than having good cause. The offending number plate was: H982 FKL on a Porsche and :
"Local councillor Juan Manuel Romano claimed the digits 269 on the number plate of the Ford Mustang Mustang Richard Hammond was driving were close to the 255 Britons killed during the 1982 war.
He also said the numbers 646 on James May’s Lotus could be taken as a reference to the 649 Argentinian casualties."

Sore losers, could not even win a War on their own doorstep.
Knowing Clarkson he could well have noticed the similarity, but it was pretty innocuous. I could say that I am more concerned about taking three non descript cars halfway across the world at lord knows what cost, but on the other hand Top Gear pulls in more revenue Worlwide than any other BBC program.

I know I am biased, I almost went to the Falklands with the Royal Marines, but decided I did not really have any lives left.
However I lost a few friends out there so could not give a fcuk what happens to Argentina as long as we never allow them to get away with invading again.
