Would be great to see, but doubt he'll make World Champ with Torro Rosso (Red Bull, if the get back to form though...). Good on him for getting the seat 8) ...makes me feel very old though

Makes a mockery of the Red Bull driver program ladder. He wasn't a Red Bull contracted driver until just a few days before the announcement - ie. step aside all those drivers who were on said, and much promoted, ladder system while we undermine it and bring in an 'outsider'... rumour is Mercedes were also in negotiation for their driver program, so Red Bull moved fast.

IMHO it's too young. His career could be over before he's 20 unless magic happens. Though he has, in his tiny handful of car race weekends (way less weekends - though more races maybe - than even Raikkonen before he went to Sauber I think), shown much magic reportedly.

Torro Rosso's two 2015 drivers' combined age will be about the same as Button's next year! (if Button retains a seat)

Crazy, especially with Sainz Jnr and Lynn on the books and looking very good for an F1 future.
I suppose you could argue that they are trying something different, and it might pay off, but it looks more like a desperation move, spotting the talent and moving quickly to secure him before someone else does.

I hope he gets a proper chance, and isn't booted out of F1 after 1 season, never to be seen again!
