Building Surveyor's in West Lothian/Edinburgh Area

Post by douglasgdmw » Tue Aug 05, 2014 2:50 pm

Folks,

Just wondering whether their are any surveyors on Scottish Elise's that would be able to perform a Category 3 Survey on a property that we have purchased (obviously missives still needs to be signed etc).

Due to the property being Grade "B" listed and built in 1767, I am looking for something a little bit more than the seller's home report as I want to make sure that the property is in sound condition before finally concluding on missives (don't worry they are a while away as entry date is 26th September). Can't see any point in commissioning my own home report as I have seen how quickly these are generated.

Cheers

Yep interesting and also very scary after having mostly new builds for our properties.

Here are some pics:
Main house and the sherperd's cottage (living room and kitchen/diner are located in the cottage)

Garden not quite as big in the photo. If the tree house stays then I may have somewhere to sleep if I have been bad :)
Image

Living Room - lot bigger than we are used to at 7.26mx5.12m
Image

Kitchen/Dining Room - another big room at 8.61m x 5.12m

Plans are to get a new kitchen, probably within the 1st 6 months of living in the house once we have got used to the layout.

There are also lots of nice personal touches like a completely bespoke steel crafted bannister for the stairs. The person who did the bannister also did the stags horns above the fireplace.

First time that I have been really excited about bricks and mortar :D

Says a lot if you are really excited about it. Old properties are built to last. Looks really nice. 8)

Can't beat Countryside living**

**other than in the winter when it is freezing and you get snowed in, the summer when it is hay fever season and every vehicle on the road is a tractor, the autumn when your trees blow over and you can't move for piles of leaves and every tractor is dripping mud, and spring when... err... ok, I like spring!!

 What he said! I got snowed in for 2 weeks and while the rest of the village cleared the co-op shelves of bread and milk my wife was stocking up on mince pies and mulled wine. thankfully andyg came to the rescue and dragged my golf down half a mile of untreated roads with a foot and a half of snow on it.
