I may be a little biased, but I do think the S1 is ageing a lot better than the S2. I think the classic styling of the S1 helps, where as any futuristic / modern styling becomes very dated as the car ages. Saying that, the only part of the S2 that I think is not ageing too well is the design of the front lights.

The PH article was quite interesting. Clearly some face-lifts are an improvement, while others are not.

Oh well, those of us with ugly cars will have to make do with thrashing them around Spaz whilst you lot with S1s hobble off to get some new wheel bearings :-)

Buy one of the first S2's with the short roof, throw the body away and fit an S1 one, best of both worlds.

Sadly the cosmetics of the car and cheese bearings have precisely zip to do with the business case to attend Spazz :-( I hope you all have a thoroughly horrid time ;-)

I was convinced that my S2 was wider than the S1, it certainly feels larger on the road and seems to take up more space, but just measured across the front wings and they are identical at 67.7"

However it is longer, 149" v 146.7" (all from Wikipedia)

I would count myself as "established" and had the first S2 of its colour in Scotland :-) (Laser Blue IIRC).

Did the first S2s not have the long roof?

Christ I'll never live that quote down will I? Correction - your S2 was the first one in Scotland - one of only 3 non-factory cars in the UK on an "X" registration (best dealers got their demos first :)

Well, i had an S1, then two S2 exiges after the first one had an unmentionable. (the first rule of crashclub is we don't talk about crashclub) and although the exige was a better car in almost every possible way (plus a lot safer) i just never quite bonded with it in a way i did with my S1. Went back to an S1 last year, and all is well in the world.
I prefer the styling, and the agricultural engine and it just seem like more of an event climbing into the elise than it ever did the exige. Beauty isn't just skin deep after all.
I also like tinkering a little, nothing major, just enough to make me think i'm actually involved with it's upkeep, but with the exige i was too worried about devaluing it if i scraped the paint etc while trying to connect/remove something.

If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!
