SE Elise parts pool....

Good morning all...

I'm toying with the idea of embarking on another Lotus journey, kinda a flip of a coin between an S1 Elise project or a Porsche Boxster S (986) Your thoughts?

Right, the porsche would be a jump in and drive affair but cost of daily running etc will be higher.

Elise would be a project taking a more or less bare car which hasn't been on the road for many years and breathing life back into her.... She runs etc but will need a lot of bodywork and tarting up.

Where you guys could maybe help would be letting me know what S1 parts you have kicking about, any nice bits too ;) Obviously the budget is as tight as a nuns chuff so please be kind....

Bar a whole load of bodywork this car is needing I made a list some time ago of what I would like to do to the car to make her a tasty road car again, again not all needed immediately as the focus for now would just be getting her road and track ready :)

Here is a list I've made up, please feel free to add in what you have lying about and let me know if you have anything that is on the list so I can try and work out a realistic budget :thumbsup

Possible boot box rear clam
Possible front clam
Rear reflectors.
Headlight covers.
Rollbar cover
Under tray.
Diffuser.
Boot lid.
Boot lock
Boot lock cable and pull lever
Stereo fitting kit.
Aerial.
Speaker pods.
Sill pads.
Seats.
Console.
Carpets
soft top black.
Sport 160 rear wing.

Standard ECU would see me rolling for now

Future or possible upgrades.....

Mg zr 160 engine box and wiring
Lightweight flywheel
Possible clutch.
4-2-1.
Cat.
Back box.
Suspension kit.
Brake pads

Thanks all....! :D

Sounds like fun! I've got 3 front wishbones and a collection of rear balljoints. And a set of later Rimstock 12 spoke alloys. But most other spares I have are generally scheduled for installation. Will take a closer look next time I tidy the garage :-)

PS - the Elise is the logical project!

Hardly a project if it's jump in and drive - Elise FTW ( I have no S1 parts :? )

Porsche is jump in and drive...
Elise is a project as not currently road legal and needs work to make it so.
 Hope that clears up any confusion :thumbsup

Elise. You know you want it.
I'm afraid I can't help out with any parts, although there's a few tins of Dulux in the shed that you're welcome to - official Lotus Magnolia I think

Mark, am I right in saying only the seats in that list are essential for a running car!? :-D

Can understand the desire for turnkey fun though. Finding time to do the getting these days is hard.

If it is running an emerald then presumably the engine has been played with. Will a standard ECU work?

Would an old Mems ECU get you running? There must be loads of them kicking about. I have the odd parts on my shelves, nothing on the large front. Keep posting up what you are looking for as you discover it. :-)

I have s1 MEMS but not the matching 5AS security module. Your friendly lotus dealer can probably help code match them for you.

I also have a 160 vvc head, loom and probably the ecu.

I probably have lightened flywheel.

Cheers,
Robin

If you get tatty seats, you might be able to swap with someone who is looking to get theirs recovered.

Sounds like a fun project :)

Robin we need to talk.... :thumbsup

It's now looking like a done deal on the Lotus front so let the fun begin... I had thought about buying an old MG 160 VVC and dropping the lot in but have been informed that it's not that simple :( Whole car needs painting so the front and rear ends will be off for that so any engine work is as well to be done then?

So, so looking forward to this journey... :thumbsup

OH Just remembered.. Anyone got S1 rear arch liners? or a boot box rear clam and fibreglass bootlid?? :cheers
