CCTV / webcam ideas?

So last night I was lying in my bed watching Forest Gump at about 2am and I heard a car outside creeping about, sounded like a broken zorst so was probably a 5inch exhaust on a corsa, thought nowt of it, then heard it again 5mins later.

Noticed this morning someone had made a poor attempt at an egging, they had launched it from the road and not quite made it the full 40 or so feet to my car and it had hit the front grill.

Not the first time, and no doubt other youngsters who have kindly taken offence to the fact I have a nice car, but I am keen to know who  .

SO, any suggestions? Webcam, cctv etc? Something simple and that works in the dark a must, I know nothing about this sort of thing so wondered if anyone has a similar setup?

cheers,
jj

Dunno the cost, but a wee battery powered camera on the dash you can tap into from your mobile? :-

As for seeing in the dark, you'll need an Infra Red camera - muchos expensive or some sort of thermal imaging (also expensive)

Right - got power there so could put up one of those motion sensitive lights. That wont help see the road though which is probably the launch zone. Clearly they dont have big enough stones to come into the drive...

There seems to be a lot of kits on the eBay but they are no doubt of dubious quality....

Distances involved ? Looking at similar for my garage and not wanting t spend a wedge on wireless kit and shared areas so unable to run cat5.might jsut sneak a single USB cable down there and then use a inexpensive webcam with IR LEDs on it.

Then there is the camera system that was on the aldi or lidl special list last week.

I am looking at the following software: http://www.crime-catcher.com/ as it can take multiple USB inputs.

Its part of the house so easily able to run cables through the basement and into the house etc, plus I had guessed that wireless might be unreliable? Something like Lawrences setup where it records the last 100 movements would be spot on, but I dont know what that is.
