Aberdeen commuting advice
Aberdeen commuting advice
It's a long time since I drove to the Granite City for a Monday morning start!
But I may be doing just that in mid April, and wondered what time I need to join the queue on the A90 south of Bridge of Dee if I am to make Rubislaw area for 8.30am?
Cheers.

Re: Aberdeen commuting advice
Neil, that's v useful, ta. Hotel pricing off the scale on 16th April for some reason, so looking at making a day trip.
Think I can cope with a 5.30am departure from Linlithgow...no different to the occasional red eye flight which I submit to

Re: Aberdeen commuting advice
Word of caution Campbell.
I've been driving up here (Aberdeen) every
Monday since the start of December and many times it's taken me 30-40 minutes to do the last few miles to the roundabout at the end of the A90
I now go through Beilside.

Re: Aberdeen commuting advice
It must have got worse since I last did it!
16th Aprils a Wednesday Campbell. It's always worse up here midweek but a Sunday night shouldn't be too difficult. Malmaisons just round the corner from Rubislaw and there are plenty of B&B's in the area

Try double that.neil wrote:If you allow yourself half an hour you'll be fine.
If you arrive at the queue around 7.30am, you'll easily spend 30-40 mins getting onto Brig o Dee, then it's another 10-15 to Rubislaw.
I tried Maryculter/Peterculter/Bieldside and it's no better.

Re: Aberdeen commuting advice
Thanks all. Kerry mentioned some of the alt routes too.
As for Malmaison...lovely but out of my league for this particular engagement!
Agree Abz hotels often daft money, however have been monitoring of late and with 1-2 mths notice some good value rates have been on show. Eg had the Thistle booked for £49 pn but cancelled as the client switched dates.
Abz is the only place I've seen other than London with 3 fig Travelodge pricing.
Anyway the SE masseev has been its usual benevolent self so I have some class alternatives should they be required
Cheers guys!

Re: Aberdeen commuting advice
For those semi regulars, you could always try turning off at the flyover, going down through Nigg/Altens and to Rubislaw (or anywhere else from there), but i've no idea if it would be any quicker (live and work North of the bridge, makes life easier
)
I'd show you how with technology, but i'm too old for that - easy explain it if i see you.

Great stuff Ross.
I shall be lying in bed with a cup of tea watching the news on the iPad and catching up on e-mail with the Macbook.
tut
ps:- make sure that you do not sit next to a fatty, and fly Bristow so that you never need to use the training.
