Average article but I'd love to see it work on the Elise.

You don't need that for an Elise to misbehave. Seriously though, Lotus didn't use can bus on the early cars and only a limited one on the later cars.

For not so much more investment and the same physical access you can plant a bomb with wireless trigger under the car. This 'technology' gets a big SFW from me.

Cheers,

I thought it was interesting (that they'd gone to all the trouble). Did you watch the video at the end with the Prius with all the electrics exposed?

The investment's been huge (DARPA) and I think the BOMB investment would be much much less ;)

Presume that they have to break into the car to use it, or is it wireless and can be used outside?

I think it's more proof of concept. But in theory it's a module that you could plug into the CAN bus and has bluetooth. They talk of just bolting on a GSM module to increase range somewhat... Some cars you'd need to break into I guess, but is this a similar thing that they use to nick all those Audis?

Well at least N3 is safe.

It aint got anyfing on it apart from turn the key. Mind you, they would take one look and walk past towards the shiny cars.
