2014 F1 cars

Post by Dave » Sat Jan 25, 2014 3:39 pm

Out of all the cars unveiled so far I think Ferrari are winning the ugly contest. :puke

Let’s hope there’s a Cinderella amongst all those ugly sisters.

Is it just me or does anyone else see the similarity?

They all look crap anyway, so in that respect I'd just concentrate on function over form.

LOL. I thought F14 T was some sort of l33t slang for fiat ... but it must be the model number?

I note that Kimi looks bored already ... surprised he isn't holding an ice cream :-)

Cheers,

I also see that Caterham have finally got some drivers - Kamui Krashi is back :-) Shame there is no seat for Heikki, not that it will make any difference given they will surely be at the back of the pack unless the Marussia Ferrari engine is really sh*t.

The Lotus is the best looking so far - let's hope it goes well too.

That Ferrari is possibly thee ugliest F1 car I have ever seen. It just looks so wrong. The nose looks like it's from at least 2 different cars and what is going on with the rear diffuser. I hope they have to radically change the design in a hurry because I don't think I could spend a season watching that monstrosity.

To be fair to Ferrari none of the latest cars are lookers but that one is really bad.

I'm surprised at the variation of style of noses across the teams who have released images of their 2014 cars so far. Even with so many reg. changes there usually tends to ultimately be just subtle differences in the cars due to wind tunnel results. So far we have:

Ferrari's single snout
McLaren's nostrils (the ugliest so far IMHO)
Williams' anteater (the least offensive)
Lotus' tusks

Wonder if we will see any teams change their front end as the season develops. :?:

The Ferrari is a pretty ugly car, but at least it doesn't have the erm, appendage noise like the McLaren and Williams. The McLaren looks the worst for me though I admit I can't see past that awful nose!

I think gradually the cars will end up looking the same as the season progresses. Eventually on design will turn out to be the most efficient and will get copied by the rest. Be interesting to see Newey's design, think theirs is out on Wednesday at Jerez test session.

Very possibly the ugliest F1 cars ever from the ones unveiled so far. At least the new regs might spice things up a bit. I am hoping the huge hike in torque will make the cars harder to drive and favour the naturally gifted drivers like Kimi and Alonso, and conversely show up some of the many pay drivers on the grid.
