Lachie My twin brother

Post by Jacobite » Fri Jan 24, 2014 3:48 pm

A few of you may know him as he's attended a few track days at Knockhill with me and a couple of Tut Towers along with the odd run - although not much in the past year as Works been too busy for me to get much time off especially weekends off and he's had his hands full with his kids

He works at Mossmorran Sub contracting for Shell as a saftey officer doing rope access

During the summer he developed a limp which the GP put down to siatica and he was given nerve blockers and pain killers to alieviate most of it until the end of November when on returning from a visit home down to the midlands he developed very firy pain in both thighs and calfs which left him only able to walk a few meters , unable to sit long enough to enjoy a meal or stand long enough to have a Pee

The GP's have helped trying several combination of tablets pain killers nerve blockers etc etc while he has waited for his MRI scan which he had on 17th Jan 2014 he had gone in as a day patient with just his coat and was kept in. Later the same afternoon he was transfered through to The Southern General Hospital in Glasgow before being transfered to The Beatson Oncology Unit on Sat afternoon where he was meet by a consultant and started radio therapy. Having found a tumour at the base of his spine and a Myeloma in his blood and bone marrow -the Myelonoma is an eminently treatable bone marrow cancer although not always entirely curable

Since then they have got his pain level more or less under control and indicated that he will get 5 courses of radio therapy 5 days on then 2 days rest he has been transfered bacy to Forth Valley Royal Hospital and started chemotherapy there today

thoughts and good wishes at this time appreciated Thanks

All best wishes from family R, knowing what you're going through is probably cold comfort at this horrible time. I did the full five stages of grief so don't be surprised when you get teary.

Hi,

I thought that we had been through the wars here with Tom's back - similar symptoms but thankfully not the same cause, though at least it sounds like there is good prospect of it being treated!.

Fingers crossed and best wishes to all of you.
