Thieving scumbags...

My other half just got woken up by 3 toerags in our kitchen, they done a bolt when they heard her upstairs. By the sounds of it they were looking for car keys as she heard them opening and closing cupboards and drawers. So they done a bolt in a Corsa and she managed to get the reg number, that car is most likely nicked as well though. They were right the way through the downstairs of the house but it looks like nothing else was taken, they did not even bother to pick up an ipad or a macbook....
The one night she forgets to lock the door and this happen, thankfully they never got any car keys or no one was hurt.
Just had an update from my other half and the police have told her that they put a stinger out and managed to catch one of the toerags..

Horrible thing to happen. Glad they at least caught one of them.

Well done, that she could catch the reg number
no doubt the scumbags will be well known therefore a slap on the wrist is likely
and usual business will be resumed !

Been wondering about installing a key safe for a while. Might be time.

Doubt if anybody else would think that this is a good idea, but I leave the keys in the car outside the front door, better that they just take it than try and break in the house to get the keys.
I know that there is an insurance implication, but they can not prove that I left the keys in, and I have no qualms after recent incidents in going toe to toe with them. The safety of my family comes first, anything else is second.

ps:- no probs with N3, no chance of them starting it.

Perhaps not the best idea to advertise that on an open forum!

That's probably a bit extreme- leaves it open to opportunists as well.
I do agree with the sentiment though- my car keys are always downstairs, in an unlocked key box which can't be seen from outside but is obvious once you are in the house.
Opportunist thieves won't get my car but if someone goes to the bother of breaking into my house looking for the keys they can easily find and take them without having to wake my family.

We live in a townhouse and keep our keys in the kitchen on the first floor. If someone was to break looking for them, by the time they'd negotiated the plethora of stair gates that we now have I'd be wide awake with the bat next to my bed in hand

My thoughts are if someone really wants to steal your prestige car they will, never the less we have an alarm as a minimum. In the event we even forget to lock a door we have this to wake us up !.....or alert our friendly neighbours if out.
I would start with that before a key safe.

What he actually means is that he leaves the keys outside in the kennel occupied by his German Shepherd!

Considering Khan starts barking before anybody even walks through the front gate, and then Zara joins in, they would have to be rather stupid to carry on.

Harvey my springer would bark like fcuk (gravel all round house) and then proceed to lick any intruder to death.

All this reminds me why I wanted a descent CCTV system. Not really a deterrent unless they spot the cameras but so they might be identified. Both cars are fitted with trackers but the R8 has the version that can be tracked real time on any laptop, phone or pad.
Same here though, keys kept downstairs in plane sight once you are in. Rather they found them a left than rake through the house.
