Silverstone F1 2014

I know that plenty of you will have been to Silverstone for the F1.
I plan to go this year as my first ever F1 spectator, and was wondering if I could ask you guys where it would be best to stay. I have been told that camping is good, as you can stay the whole weekend. However a recommended hotel, or a B&B would be preferable?

I stay on site, camping as I have long days of scrutineering. Try hotels just north of Milton Keynes, I think some of my colleagues use Premier Inns near MK

I've stayed in Oxford, you can rent rooms from the university - Oxford rooms. It's not the closest, about 45 mins away but the route is pretty good and quiet if you leave early. It's handy if you have a few people to sort out and they are a bit last minute as there is always some accommodation available.

I found a good little back road from the east gate to Milton Keynes last year, so definitely a good option if you plan to be on the east side.

We camped a couple of years back when there was crazy rain which delayed qualifying, and it was great, no need to worry about traffic once you're in and had a were in no hurry to leave so avoided traffic at that end too, though we did have to wait a while for a tow out of the carpark field, which we eventually dodged with some pushing by me and another guy and some top notch driving by the wife :blackeye

We were in the official Siverstone Woodlands site, family / quiet area.

I was down at the same time with Wul ( Willie) and our two sons. Also at Woodlands camping but we were in the lively section, great if your wanting to party. We got soaked on the Thursday and Friday but great on race day. When I go back I will do the same again, night life was great on site, although pretty muddy everywhere as you can see by the state of the car. We stayed over until the Monday, that let us get to the after race party and we just drove straight out on the Monday morning, no queing.

Cheers
