I've read the synopsis of the shows and he does genuinely do some scary sh*t in them... Not mucking about, the lad.

Cheers for that, he's brilliant in "closer to the edge"...only watched it 6 months ago knowing nothing about him or TT and now booked up for going in 2015...

Might be an appropriate surrogate for "vintage" Top Gear...

Bit of a Idol of mine is young Guy, no half measures in his camp . He's off to NZ on Boxing Day racing a Suzuki GSXR1000 for a few $ so good luck and hope to see him in the TT in 2014 .
I've also become a bit of a fan of Suzuki lately . Having had an amazing test on a unrestricted Hyabusa 1300 , it aint the best looking bike in the world to look at but OH shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit it can make the performance of an Elise 0-60 feel like a bus :wink

: . If all goes to plan it will be in the garage along with the rest of the flock

Jeremy's Christmas DVD, is a top gear road trip.... So, am I the only one who thinks that is in place of our BBC Christmas special?

Thoroughly enjoyable.
I loved how he looked deflated to have only achieved 112.x mph!!! He genuinely thought he could have done 120 or more and I'm sure he could have if they'd done it on tarmac. I'm not sure why they chose do to it on sand - health & safety / distance needed?
I also thought it was quite funny that he went for a low speed test where he reached 40mph in his jeans and woolly bobble hat... because you're not going to hurt yourself at that speed
Looked like he could have easily had something going on with Laura Trott

Cracking watch. They did the test runs at Bruntingthorpe (which I think is still the longest stretch of private hard standing in the country) and it wasn't long enough. At 8 miles of hard-packed sand, they still ran out of space at Pendine. Previous record run was done on a motorway before it opened - can't see the health and safety conscious government types approving that now...

Yep, best thing I have watched over Christmas. The sand must have hugely compromised him and he must be tempted to try it somewhere else/abroad on a better surface. Clips of future episodes look good too.
Found the first episode of the Idris Elba thing really disappointing although the rally stuff in the second episode was much better.

Great "Boy's Own" adventure!
He comes across very well on TV and undoubtedly braver than "Brave McBrave"

I think it's a toss up (couple of hundred yards) between Bruntingthorpe and RAF Macrihanish
They are both around 3km but using the sands with its record breaking history made it all the more special
It may be me but there is a touch of Fred Dibnah in Guy's attention to engineering detail ?
