Absolutely, Senna and Schumacher would have been out there on slicks.

Fangio, Moss, and Clark would have been on P0's.

Bernd Maylander seemed to be having the most fun in that qualifying session, powering it out of some of the corners with the back stepping out.
Whilst a hard place to judge the conditions due to the undulating track and intensity and suddenness of weather changes, they definitely left it too long to resume. The fact Grosjean started on intermediates proves that. It seems now that if full wets are required the call to stop all together is right there too.

Tut,

I think it depends on the circuit to a large extent. Where drainage is good and even you can no doubt get some running on the full wets - at Interlagos the drainage is not good enough and you end up with rivers and chances are you don't do a lot of running on full wets - that said the other cars in Q3 did run on full wets at the start of the session (perhaps to avoid doing a Perez ;-)).

Cheers,
Robin

What is happening now as well is this tyre business.

The top team managers were saying that they were not really learning anything about setup in those conditions, plus they did not want to use the intermediates up but save as many sets as they could for the race, as it was forecast to be a wet one. However it is certainly going to be dry for the start of the race.

In some ways I'm glad the season's over now. No more excited distractions which turn out to be less than, er, exciting!

Anyway I should be in bed as off to Birmingham in the morning. Early. Urgh.

PS - smashing finish for Marky Mark, practically as good as a win given his team mate's form this year. Loved the helmet removal on cool down lap. BUT how much will they fine him for that? Can they chase him for it, since he is now technically retired?!

Jenson looked well jaded. "One more sleep" after qually, I think he said!!

Clean drawing board for next season, but I would be prepared to put a bet on the winner at Melbourne.
