White Good. (New car and thanks content).

I may have mentioned I needed a new car, 6k I may have suggested to be a budget to spend on a hot hatch. Petrol (hate diesel), 200bhp + I may have said.

Thing is I'm lazy so instead of actually going looking for a car I just tried to convince people I knew with cars I liked to sell them to me - i accept this is an unusual route to take. Neil, Graeme etc I'm sorry.

But then Craig at MMC emails me - the following is a precis of our email conversation with my thoughts.

"Hi Pete, It's Craig., I may have a car that interests you - it's an Audi."

Now I suspect that Craig's understanding of a bargain car and mine may differ.

"What sort of Audi?" I ask.

"It's a '09 S-Line, Black Edition, DSG, 2.0 TDi. All the toys."

"That's a diesel. It's way outside my budget. I drive bangers and Lotuses - I care naught for toys."

"it's a good price!"

(So I do some man maths and realise I'll save about a grand a year in tax and fuel - and that's after the interest payments... Sod it, this one's actually for sale.)

"OK I'll take it. Thanks. No I don't want to see it or drive it I'm sure it will be fine."

So today Craig drops my new car off (which was utterly splendid of him).

"It's lovely." I say. (Which it is and exactly as he described - better in fact.)

"The DSG box is ace, you'll never go back" he says as I drop him at the station (yes i will i think - I read Evo every month).

"It's got a Bose stereo" (I always wear my Shures)

So this is an unconditional apology to Craig.
I LOVE all the toys.
It has Bluetooth with which my phone works, I phone people whilst driving without hiding my phone in my shirt.
I played Alabama 3 today at barely half volume and it sounded marvelous, not just bass but DETAIL. It's awesome and a Bose stereo doesn't make my ears itch.
I am NEVER having another manual car! Sod EVO - DSG is the future.
Diesel or no it goes like stink!

Craig is now in charge of all my future car buying decisions, I'm considering giving him control of my bank account - clearly I am an idiot who knows nothing about cars.

Oh and it's white, which I thought would look a bit blingy, but it looks GREAT. (Can you see what I did with the title?)

We thought you buying apes car was the low point..... Excellent work!

I'm pretty sure you just ignored every single rule in the car buying handbook.

Well done ;)

Oh, and if you paint your house's red sandstone black, you will have a nice match!

Pete, you must be a salesmans dream - Craig sold you something that missed your wish list in almost every way and you bought it unseen. The marketing companies must be queuing up to ring you with their latest offers :blackeye
Car looks very 8) and if your ever going to buy unseen then Craig is a safe bet to get you a deal :thumbsup

Hahaha. You have no idea. I've bought bangers like that too, a 1500 quid MX5, a Multipla, countless sheddy Citroens, Rover 200s the list continues... The one that scared me the most was sending money overseas, by account transfer, to buy our first Lotus back in '99 based entirely on a couple of emails.

apologies for the boring chat, but you will also NEVER go to the petrol station again - those things run about 60mpg!

Pete

Don't think we have ever met but I had one of those without the DSG and in black, with all the toys. I sold it due to a tax 'error' and regret doing so every time I see one. Enjoy.
