Audi TT scam

Post by tut » Tue Nov 05, 2013 9:32 pm

Had around 10 phone calls today reference my Audi TT which is for sale on Autotrader. Adverts covers different cars from 2002 to 2005, different colours black, blue, silver, low mileage, all at £2k.

Obviously a scam, but what could they get from it by giving my land line number?

That doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.

(I'll take the 2005 one, in blue.)

Tut,

Who have you upset !!!!, I once pissed a guy off in Wartle and I'm certain it was him who placed multiple adverts about me having a shed free for collection. I was swamped with phones calls. I had a good laugh at it afterwards, but at the time I was ready to put most of his house windows in.

So who was it you upset ????

I had a similar experience recently when selling my Audi on autotrader; someone hacked my account and halved the selling price on the car. When I called AT about it,they were absolutely fine about it, gave me free days advertising. I did get the impression that it was part of normal proceedings for such things to happen. :?

As it happens, car sold outwith AT.

As above
I would not use A/T at the moment as it appears to be under attack

My account was hacked/Yahoo account hacked and was bombarded with A/T branded emails asking for my account/bank details.

A/T themselves were automatically sending me blatant phishing emails from these knobs in Nairobi.

I did my usual and replied with pictures of running water, W.C'S and bars of soap

Never sold a car never mind on Autotrader. Been searching on there for the Honda, but only my postcode went in, not address or telephone number.

Me piss someone off? How could that happen? :D

Yeah I was worried that autotrader had cracked down on the scam emails, but got three of them in the last couple of days, so that's my free entertainment back on.
If they are giving out your number, it might be on the off chance that people prefer to email rather than call, but an advert with a real number seems more legit. So they have copied your number and stuck it on their spam adverts.
There are two sub 6 grand elise on at the moment, blatant scams, have their direct email address posted on the photo, no way that autotrader should be passing them.
I would use their phonesafe number rather than posting your own.
