I'm looking to call upon the SE expertise again....

We are looking for a restaurant and hotel (can be all in one, or two separate) for a family gathering, in or around Stirling. Any suggestions or recommendations will be much appreciated :cheers

TIA

Stirling is not wonderful for choice

This is nearby and easy to Find
Easy travel by train/car
Nice hilltop location overlooking the poor people
Once a flagship hotel of the Reo Stakis group.................now a Hilton
Food by Nick Nairn

There was an SE Christmas get together a couple of years ago at this place:

I had to cancel at last minute, but from what I can gather, it was great night.

if you were to consider the Dunblane Hydro, I would also recommend this place:

http://www.oldchurcheshouse.com/

its recently opened and the food is excellent. can't comment on the rooms though.
there has been a few decent eating places just opened up in Dunblane.

The Highland hotel in Stirling is not bad and up by the castle, with a good few eateries close by. There is also the Adamo (Stirling or Bridge of Allan) but I have not been for a while but used to a good meal.

I would not touch the Hydro in Dunblane with a barge pole personally as the last twice I have been it has had the worst customer service I have ever seen.
