From the SELOC Techwiki the Toyota Elise was introduced in Jan 2004 and March 2004 for the Exige

Exige S2 were always Toyota - so that should help.

Toyota S2 Elise were around that time, but always badged 111R until a few years after that. Can't remember for sure when Rover production stopped completely.

My old Elise was a 2003 model and one of the last with the K Series so Jan 2004 sounds spot on :thumbsup

K series cars can be found on 2005 plated cars. They're fairly easy to tell apart though. Not many Exiges of that age for sale just now or over the past year, so you may struggle to find one you fancy.

They stopped making K16 long before VVC, so there are plenty of 111S on 2005 regs, but I think the last of the K16 will be 2004.

Cheers,
Robin

Elise:
last of Rover 120bhp engine was old Elise "S" on an 2004 "04" plate
last of Rover 156bhp engine was old Elise "111S" on a 2005 "55" plate
Toyota 190bhp 111R launched Jan 2004 (53 plate), Exige S2 with this engine March 04 (04 plate)
This engine supercharged 220bhp on Exige S2 from 06 plate (earlier for Cups); 240bhp from 08 plate

All are worth more than they used to be! :cheers

It's also been scientifically proved that sitting in an Azure Blue S1 with MMC's makes you 15% more attractive to women.

I've just bought a 2007 Elise S with the 134bhp Toyota engine - great drive, good combination of low down torque & top end power.
