Honda Elise s2

Post by highlander » Sun Sep 29, 2013 6:29 pm

Looks like a reasonable buy if you're looking in this direction, obviously the accident damage would need to be investigated, but not a private sale it would appear so maybe a bit of protection.
I'm looking for another 111R mainly because of the Japanese engine but my ideal car has a torquey power delivery......does a supercharged honda have a linear power curve and plenty of lowdown grunt.
That's the thing with the celica engine, you have to be in the mood or drive everywhere in 3rd gear so you're ready to exploit the gap in the traffic to make progress....maybe it's me because I do about 35K a year in my works van but sometimes I can' t be arsed with driving my car like a 2 stroke!!

the SC Elise (forget the honda part) actually does away with the needs for revs. (I'm sure Shug will be along to tell you about the different in Elaines 111R since getting the factory SC kit fitted)

The Honda SC cars have way more go, but are only as good as the install. (Ed can vouch for that)

That's why I moved on from the 111R too, just got fed up with lack of flexibility low down.

The Honda S/C has no kick in the back at all, because unlike a T/C that kicks in at a certain rpm, the S/C is there from the moment that you touch the throttle.

It is not as impressive by feel, but far more usable on the road, completely like a turbine or electric motor in its linear delivery.

Should've put in the title" ON EBAY"
Not sure if it's still there and not on their website but the Honda engined Elise S2 c/w supercharger for sale @16K was UK lotus centre I think....I"ll check later.
Should be easy enough to find....what's everyones' opinions on the above?

Uklotuscentre is well known and documented on SELOC and not trusted at all, so one to avoid unfortunately. They have a few other names they sell cars under.

If you can see this it is threads on that car included crash pictures on SELOC, owner says he believes it was a CAT C, original ebay advert had no mention of crash damage and was denied for a while before the advert was finally updated.

If not this is some of the owner quotes "From what I could see in the ditch, the area where the fwd lower wishbones attached looked slightly bent and every clam and panel was damaged." "The underneath of car didn't look flat either"

Wasn't really considering this, just seemed like a "good" price....but too good to be true!!
Hadn't read about the uk lotus centres' rep on the forums....there was a breaker/ repairer in the north of England who had a similar rep, dealt predominately in TVR'S but offers up a Lotus now & again.....too be avoided it seems.
I did think it was odd that it wasn't on the company website,if it was a recognised conversion then probably worth breaking or putting the running gear in your own car.
Thanks for all the info guys.
