Guys
A friend is going to see this as a stop gap. Anything to look out for or are they pretty solid?

Yeah that's what I thought. I will go with him and see if they will MOT it for him. The oil light is seemingly on as well so not sure why...

Timing belt, suspension links and sticky brake calipers are common issues to consider. If it's smokey under acceleration -commonly the airflow sensor issue, but there can be other problems.

Thanks Kerry. Belt has been done will look at the brakes. No smoke from the back from what I have been told.

My 2002 A4 (1.9Tdi) has had numerous suspension link issues in recent years requiring pretty much complete replacement of front top and bottom mounts, arb etc. Check for knocking noises from the front end on rough roads/rubble strips/speed humps.

The smoke is usually just obvious on acceleration, so it would probably run ok when stationary. Links on that model are very very common problems, I'd be surprised if it didn't need them.

I considered buying a car from there earlier in the year, but then I read a few of the online reviews.

Went to see it yesterday it was ok but didn't stop.. They didn't want to MOT it which also made me think. Just walked away in the end.
Thanks for the input.

Brakes very underrated

The potential is there for the MOT to cost more than buying the car and clearly no faith in the product on their part.
