I've inherited a website that was setup on iWeb. How difficult is it going to be to maintain it with a PC? CAn I convert it? I do have access to a mac but it's Mrs Pete's so it'll be a pain.

I have http://kilmarnock.demon.co.uk and it's a pain in the hoop. :D I don't do anything with it really it was done because I fancied learning some php.

don't bother clicking on the link I am using wamp and it appears windows has updated and it hasn't come back up. :D. The plan was to stick linux on a PC and change it to running lamp instead but fatherhood becons and I have been rather busy :D

Using your home broadband means slow uploads, no problem for webpages but if it's graphics heavy or you stream video it can be rather grim.

Fired it back up, not that it's any good :D.

Give up now. Web design is simply soul destroying :-)

Neither of you are helping.

The site's written, I just want to update it a bit without resorting to a mac...

We understand. I stand by my first answer. Give up - the result will be the same, just you'll have more soul left :-)

Or, to (mis)quote Lt. Col. Nguyen Huu An

"And the end will be the same, except for the numbers who will die before we get there."

Cheers,
Robin

If you want to edit it, all you need is a good text editor like vim or sublime and some knowledge of html/css ... simples :)

You see that's slightly more helpful, if all your advice is going to be reduced to "Memento Mori" this forum will become a very different place ;)

Ok I like notepad++ :D

I also prefer to write it by hand as it's cleaner.

I really have your best interests at heart when I say give up now, though ... I mean what will happen if you don't edit it? I'll bet not much. Meanwhile you could be reading a good book or, if needs must, spending some quality time with Mrs Pete and Petette.

Cheers,
Robin
