Be interested to hear how you get on. Been fancying a set in 13" spec. Hear they give much better mileage than 48s.

Charlie, how do they compared price-wise to CR500s?
I'd imagine the CRs will be dearer due to the kevlar carcasses...

They're a bit cheaper than the CR500

. I love mine on the R400 but the 13 inch sizes where developed in partnership with Caterham and have slightly more open pattern than the larger sizes. The harder compound (A60) certainly wears better than anything I've tried but it does take time to warm up.

Going in atom initially, then probably Honda Elise also when it's done!

Ps. Elise cup & trophy feedback on ZZR vs a048
The Golding verdict on the new Avons;
Depends what you comparing them with – if 48’s
They last longer
Perform consistently – actually get better as get older
Are cheaper
Are faster
Slide more
So far better in wet
Negatives
Cant buy from dealers as they don’t get commission – which is partly why they are cheaper

Really looking forward to your report andy, regards Goldings view not sure I understand, "slide more" and are "faster". Surely it's one or the other or does he mean they slide gradually meaning easier to control?
Also are they still British?

With you on that one Craig but I believe the cars are over a second quicker on some tracks with the ZZR. Hope to have them on the Atom this week. Just need my replacement battery to arrive now and ill go road testing....taking one for the team in a totally unselfish gesture!!!

May be Paul meant slides more as more progressive....

Away to purchase a set for the R500
I'm getting a bit more wheel spin than I feel comfortable with (spins in 4th gear) , LTD slip diff keeps things on the straight and narrow but would prefer a better suited tyre for the car.
