Yas Island Aston GT4 Driver Experience

Post by Gareth » Wed Apr 03, 2013 6:51 am

Here's me the other day.
Looks slower on playback but felt like I was shifting at the time. No late breaking allowed but generally allowed to push. 140mph up the straight. Few times traction control was kicking in so exiting corners felt delayed. Gear changes a little slow. Would be great to buy the day and have briefing after stints to get faster. Not allowed to touch kerbs.

Heat and noise was intense.
Prob best skimming a couple of mins and you get the idea after a couple.

Mega fun.

Ooooh i'm there in August and i was planning on doing this - looks ace fun ! Did you do anything else? I was thinking about the circuit tour.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Aug? You know it's gonna be almost 50 degrees and the reason I say almost is if its 50 degrees you legally have to stop work...and that will never happen :-)

It was about 33 and I was soaked getting out.

Just did that. You have access to bars.

You'll love it!

I did that with Pauline last month as well and I would highly recommend it. We did it late afternoon as it was just starting to get dark.

The first couple of laps took a bit of getting used to because you're straight into the car with no sighting laps from the instructor. The grip on the slicks is phenomenal and I was nowhere near the limit of the car. There wasn't really much holding back - the instructor was telling me to push on all the time. The sound from the Aston is incredible

We had a night the Viceroy hotel over the track which was ok. It looks amazing on the face of it and our room was massive but it's a bit tatty in places. We also went to Ferrari World since we were there but it was very disappointing. Formula Rossa, the world's fastest roller coaster, was epic but that was it. We'd also read that Formula Rossa was often closed so we checked the board before we went it and it was open. Only to find that it was actually closed and they didn't know when it would open! We were well p!ssed so we asked for our money back at which point they said it would probably open within an hour but if not we could have our money back. And then it did open.

We're on a stop over on the way back from Thailand - we're getting a great deal in the viceroy......and I can't really move my honeymoon so it would be silly to complain
