We are going down to the Goodwood Revival this year.
We have done the FoS but was wondering whether anyone has been to the Revival and can give us some pointers:
- Grandstand tickets: Are they worth the money. We have 2 elderly gentlemen with us so it may better to give them a seat
- Which seats would people recommend as unlike the FoS, not all grandstands are roving?
Cheers
George
We have managed to get accomodation booked so we have managed to get over the hardest hurdle.

Re: Goodwood Revival
Go in fancy dress!
Been once a few years ago. Its very different from FOS but still great fun. A roving grandstand ticket is handy as most things are on the track rather than spread around like FOS.

Hi George
If looking for more info you could try a PM to GilesM. He goes every year but not sure how often he checks the forum as not a regular poster.
Cheers.

Re: Goodwood Revival
Definitely go in fancy dress. Last time we went we got a roving grandstand ticket on one of the days. Definitely better track view tho not essential.
One of the best Motorsport weekends I've been to. Much more intimate and friendly than the FoS

Re: Goodwood Revival
I live about 25mins from Goodwood and have been sort of every alternate year for about 8 yrs.
I've never bought grandstand tickets. You can walk the full circuit separted by a short bit of grass, a low tyre wall and a grass embankment for almost the full circuit. So views are excellent. We normally spend all day circumnavigating the circuit at our own pace, usually with a picnic and just doss down on the grass when a race starts.
The grandstands are really not worth it.
Understand your different requirements if you have Victor and Jack with you, but there are vintage vehicles that drive round the perimeter all day you can jump on and off.
If I was you I'd get my fill of the entrance area early, where all static events are, and head across to the other side of the circuit. Put down a big rug or fold out chairs and chill out for most of the day. You'll also see much more of the air display in the open
If you are interested in craming in the full event, auctions, aircraft, pits etc you will have to do serious amount of walking
You should dress up. About 60% of the folk do and it really helps you get into the day
As above its not the FOS. F1 clobber is not going to cut it. More an old boys day out.
