Shed suggestions....

Post by Rag_It » Sat Jan 05, 2013 4:46 pm

With the Lotus going shortly to MMC for sale, it's time to spend the next 12-18 months concentrating on work rather than cars...

So, thinking it's been a while since the last 'find me a shed' post, so here goes.... Mr B and a few others closer to the trade already on the look out, but here's the criteria:-

5k or less ideally (so can pay cash)
Won't be doing big miles (cycling or running to new office it is that close!)
Prefer a manual

Other than that, open to suggestions.....

Ideas so far
Saab 9-5 Aero HOT (PH shed of the week article)
Rangie
MK 4 Golf
S3
Panda 100bhp
S Type Shaguar
Subaru Legacy

Thoughts and examples welcome!

Trying to keep it to 5k or below, but may (read probably) blow this for a decent car!

That's quite a short list! So you are looking for any type of car really, as long as it tickles your fancy?

Over budget but I thought this is one that will keeps it's money

There is also another one at £5k but it's had a replacement engine http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/clas ... 000/997861

Admit it's a bit of an enthusiastic choice but what a way to shed

DDtB, that is horrendous...

The Scoob, I am not sure i could live with the image, albeit probably a safe investment.

The 130i well outwith budget unless acquired through auction. I'd probably go for one though...

Leon Cupra, a maybe....

Absolutely loving my P38 range rover, however I think I may have got a good one. It has (so far) been joy to own and drive, immaculate inside and out, mechanically and electronically perfect and all for £2800.

Yeah touch wood it has been great, girlfriend has been driving it during the winter and although she would rather be back driving the evora even she has warmed to it.

Was always meant to be just a winter shed and a dog carrier but genuinely love owning it and all for under £3k.

Didn't take it away for New Year as not ideal for making spirited progress past slower traffic, Mercedes blitzed the drive to Macrihannish and back. :-)

Best of luck with your search, and job, I would avoid the S type, you are to young for the pipe, and slippers yet, and they do have a sill corrosion problem, usually hidden by the plastic cover , beware.

Subaru would be my choice.

It's a 4.0 v8 autobiography, 2000 with just over 1000,000 miles. Certainly not recommended if you are going to be doing a lot of miles. there are also a lot of horror stories with them but that is from people buying them and then trying to run and maintain them on a shoe string.

I Had it serviced and checked over after I bought it by Gemm 4x4 in Falkirk and all was good with it. It was previously owned by a Lord who obviously didn't mind spending some money on it. At the end of the day it's a 12 year old car so not perfect but I have grown fond of it

Chip it down £500 for good measure

Ricky might offer a comment on its provenance
