It will depend how big the tank is!
We've got a Klargester BioDisc system that serves three houses and holds 7.5 tonnes of part treated sludge.
We need to get it emptied every 2-3 years and it cost £280 in 2009. They charged £150 for the site visit and then £20/tonne for the waste removed.
We used JC Environmental in Cowdenbeath last time, they were very good and will travel to West Lothian. Stuart Craft on 01383 512986 or 07500 702286 is one of the owners.
Let me know how you get on, our tank will need emptying shortly.

Cheers, Mark

Thanks for the input guys. Its just a standard domestic tank. It's been in since 2002 and it's starting pishing ;) out the top. So it definitely needs done.

Phoned a few places. Started off about the £250 mark. Found a local company which quoted 150 to 200. 50+ metres of hose doesn't help the cause.

Decided not to pay over the odds for emergency call out.

Fingers crossed they can come soon next week or may upset the neighbours....

Well I had a nightmare getting this sorted out. Sadly my tank is 50m + from my drive and therefore I was only able to find one company to do it. Castlebrae drainage in Broxburn and paid £320 inc vat.

Scottish water were hopeless (incorrect literature and useless staff) and euro loo, trading as thelocalseptictankcompany, took my money and then canceled the day before the job was booked because for health and safety reasons they couldn't reach the tank....

Just glad we get a sewage rebate on our council tax. :thumbsup

Ouch! Your garden sounds way too big Ed!

Agree Scottish Water aren't easy to deal with, but have always found them the cheapest at the end of the day.

Our tank needs replaced. Not a job I'm relishing... :(
